Chase away the chills with Chili!

Updated: Jan 25

The best way to combat the winter chills is with a big ole bowl of chili and corn bread.

Not to mention it is a great dish to feed your hungry bunch coming in from playing out in the snow or watching the NFL playoffs!

Baby, It's Chilly, Chili

  • 1 pound ground turkey meat

  • 2 teaspoons of Lawry's seasoning salt or your favorite seasoning salt

  • 1 tablespoon of Davis Farm Homestead or your favorite all seasoning spice

  • 1 teaspoon cumin

  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon of minced powder

  • 2 teaspoon of garlic powder

  • 2 cans of stewed tomatoes

  • 2 can of red kidney beans drained

  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • 1 small can of tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Let's Cook!

  • Place a large pot on stove and warm on medium-low. Once pot becomes warm, add vegetable oil, ground turkey, and spices. Increase heat and brown meat. Drain excess oil from meat and set aside.

  • In the same pot, add onions and green peppers. Cook until tender on medium-high. Add garlic.

  • Add meat to the pot with the onion and pepper mixture. Add tomato paste. Stir.

  • Add stewed tomatoes, kidney beans, brown sugar, stir.

  • Add 2 cups of chicken broth .

  • Bring chili to a boil then reduce heat to low and let simmer for one hour. Stir and add water if chili is too thick for your liking. Also add more spices to your liking as well.

  • Serve in a bowl and top with grated cheese, spoonful of sour cream, jalapeño, and cilantro.

Enjoy!
